Obituary: Burt Bacharach

burt

Burt Bacharach had a long and fruitful career as a songwriter and arranger. His work with Dionne Warwick is legendary and should be remembered more than his appearances in Austin Powers movies.

Chris Connelly on Nico

chris

Chris Connelly has expanded his musical palette far beyond the industrial music he became known for in the 1980s and '90s. His newest project is an ambitious tribute to the German singer Nico. By covering her songs and writing originals about her life, Connelly creates an empathetic portrait of an artist who faced many challenges in her tragically short life.

Listener Segment

Dear Listeners,

For more than 15 years, Sound Opinions was a production of WBEZ, Chicago's public radio station. Now that the show is independent, we're inviting you to join the band and lend a hand! We need your support more than ever because now we have to do all the behind-the-scenes work that WBEZ handled before (like buying insurance and paying for podcast hosting, ugh). Plus, we have some exciting ideas we'd like to try now that there's no one to tell us no!
