Eleventh Dream Day, Opinions on Wednesday & Lankum
Hosts Jim DeRogatis and Greg Kot talk with Eleventh Dream Day founders Rick Rizzo and Janet Bean about the indie rock band’s 40 year long career. They also review new albums by Wednesday and Lankum.
Rat Saw God Wednesday
Asheville, North Carolina's Wednesday is getting more attention than ever for their new album Rat Saw God. Combining Drive-By Truckers-style country with psychedelic shoegaze, Jim and Greg compare them to Courtney Love and Yoko Ono.
False Lankum Lankum
Dublin quartet Lankum are part of a robust scene digging deep into the history of traditional Irish music and infusing it with modern energy. For Lankum on the album False Lankum, that means emphasizing drone and avant garde aspects already present in songs that are hundreds of years old. Greg is an enthusiastic fan, though Jim wants more experimentation from the group.
Eleventh Dream Day
Janet Bean and Rick Rizzo started Eleventh Dream Day in 1983 and are celebrating their 40th anniversary as a band. Greg has long considered them one of his favorite bands, so he especially is happy to chart their evolution and ups and downs over four decades. They share how their experience on a major label informed their work and longevity.

Dear Listeners,
For more than 15 years, Sound Opinions was a production of WBEZ, Chicago's public radio station. Now that the show is independent, we're inviting you to join the band and lend a hand! We need your support more than ever because now we have to do all the behind-the-scenes work that WBEZ handled before (like buying insurance and paying for podcast hosting, ugh). Plus, we have some exciting ideas we'd like to try now that there's no one to tell us no!
